The Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for teachers in the Philippines is a monetary incentive given to employees of the Department of Education (DepEd) based on the agency's and the individual's performance. For the 2023 PBB, DepEd qualified for the highest possible bonus rate.

Status of the 2023 PBB Approved and confirmed: In October 2025, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and DepEd jointly announced the approval and upcoming release of the PBB for the 2023 fiscal year.

Release timeline: The DBM will work with DepEd to ensure the prompt release of funds to eligible personnel. The release date for the bonus is typically determined after all requirements are processed.
Highest rate: For the 2023 PBB, DepEd received an assessment score of 80 points, which qualifies the agency for the highest possible bonus rate. This rate is equivalent to 52% of the individual's monthly basic salary.

Estimated amount for Teacher I: For example, a Teacher I with a monthly salary of ₱27,000 (Salary Grade 11) is expected to receive approximately ₱14,040.

Eligibility for the PBB
For an individual teacher to be eligible for the PBB, both the DepEd as an agency and the individual teacher must meet a set of performance and submission requirements.

Agency-level requirements
To qualify for the 2023 PBB, DepEd had to: Meet the criteria under four dimensions of accountability: Performance, Process, Financial, and Client Satisfaction.
Attain a total score of at least 70 points in the national performance assessment.

Individual-level requirements

Individual teachers must also meet specific criteria to be eligible for the PBB. These include: Performance rating: Receiving at least a "Very Satisfactory" rating based on the agency's Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS).
Length of service: An employee with a minimum of nine months of service during the fiscal year and at least a "Very Satisfactory" rating may be eligible for the full grant of the PBB.
Absence of deficiencies: The employee must not be isolated due to failure to submit required forms or for being responsible for agency-level deficiencies.

How the PBB is calculated
The amount of the PBB is based on the agency's total score in the performance assessment, which determines the bonus rate. For 2023, DepEd's 80 points led to a rate of 52% of the eligible personnel's monthly basic salary.
