The Department of Education (DepEd) plans to increase the number of non-teaching employees who will take over the administrative duties currently performed by teachers.

According to DepEd spokesman Michael Poa on Wednesday, this will free up teachers to concentrate on teaching, which might lead to an improvement in teaching standards.

“Mayroong plano ang ating department na i-ease off ‘yung mga administrative tasks ng mga teachers kasi napapansin na bukod sa pagtuturo, mayroon din silang administrative tasks,” he said

“Sa ngayon ang plano natin, we need to upscale ‘yung ating mga teachers. So dahil doon, ang gagawin natin is mag-focus muna sila sa teaching, tatanggalin natin yung mga administrative tasks,” Poa added.
