EVEN THOUGH schools have reopened and physical classes have resumed, Education Secretary Leonor Briones has stated that online education would continue.

She said that the Department of Education will continue to use the blended learning approach.

“We are not giving up on online education. We are not giving up on technology. So we still say that what we are instituting in the Philippines is the blend of face-to-face and technology,” Briones said.

“We have a lot of catching up to do, both in face-to-face where our children learn not only facts but also how to deal with each other, with their teachers, with their parents. Where we teach them what we now describe as good manners and right conduct,” she added.

She highlighted that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) will be prioritized in order to better prepare students.

“We are not giving up on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and online because when our learners get out of school for work or for further education they will be in a world which is actually a blend of both face-to-face and technology,” the DepEd chief said.
