The Regional Offices (ROs) of the Department of Education (DepEd) have been instructed to make sure that the P5,000 cash allowance for teachers to be used in the upcoming school year is released "as soon as possible.

As stated in the advisory, DepEd said that the P5,000 cash allowance is given to classroom teachers for the “purchase of teaching supplies and materials, for internet subscription, and other communication expenses.”

DepEd added that the said allowance is also intended for the “annual medical expense” for SY 2022-2023.

In DepEd Order No. 10 s. of 2020, it was noted that the cash allowance “shall be given to entitled public school teachers not earlier than the official start of the school year.:

“In exigency of the service of the entire teaching force,” DepEd said that the P5,000 cash allowance for implementing units of DepEd which have available cash allowance “shall release/pay eligible teachers” not earlier than Aug. 22, 2022, which was announced as the first day of classes for the incoming school year.
